Most serious Reggae fans will know about Sumfest which is the largest music festival in Jamaica and the Caribbean. Past events have featured superstars like the Marley family, Vybz Kartel and 50 Cent, Kanye West, and Rihanna. Unfortunately, this year’s event had to be cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite this, fans can still catch a virtual version on the concert. Starting on the 20th of July and ending on the 25th, organizers will be broadcasting highlights from past events and memorable performances from Sumfests 27-year history. This virtual event is scheduled to continue for the entire week and will feature notable performances from stars like Lady Saw, Elephant Man, Koffee, Mavado, Vybz Kartel and more.
According to organizers, “The week of activities provide the opportunity not only for a virtual 2020 Sumfest but also for a walk down memory lane to experience some of the brightest moment of the past 27 years. What is more, in addition to past performances organizers will also hold virtual workshops and panel discussions which are aimed at people in the entertainment industry. These workshops will show them how to use social media and other internet platforms to help build their careers. To catch these performances, visit the Sumfest website or look for it on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
