Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll know that R Kelly is in deep, deep trouble. In 2019 the documentary series “Surviving R. Kelly” shed light on the singers past and abusive history.
Soon afterwards he was charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and arrested in Chicago. Several of these counts allegedly involved the sexual abuse of minors, which makes the charges extremely serious. Not only that, since these were lodged, more accusers have come forward. These accusers have made various claims against the singer, but the majority have accused him of engaging in sexual acts with them while they were underage.
But what’s happening with this case? With the coronavirus pandemic, many celebrities are keeping a low profile, but despite this the case is moving forward. In March 2020, Robert pleaded not guilty to 13 sexual abuse charges, and according to prosecutors they have also gathered more than 100 electronic devices, including smartphones, iPads and hard drives.
What these devices contain, no one knows, but it doesn’t take a vivid imagination to speculate what type of material could be on them. R. Kelly’s next court date was set for the 13th of October this year. During this appearance he once again pled not guilty, and was also denied bail. In addition to the charges he faces in Chicago, R. Kelly has also been accused by women in New York and Minnesota. Currently he remains behind bars and is awaiting his next trial date – which has yet to be set. How this story will end who knows, but at the moment things do not look hopeful.
